I am new to Dodge trucks and would like to know what the specific strengths
and weaknesses are on the model year. The truck has 70,000 miles on it, has
had the transmission replaced some time ago, seems to drive well, but has
 some slight roughness at idle.

How hard is routine service of engine (oil, filters, ignition, timing) and
 transmission (filter, fluid)?
Are the brakes easy to service?
Can the A/C be easily converted to HFC134a if needed?
Is $6500 a good deal for a nice clean truck?
Any info would be appreciated. >>

My 93 Dak is simply easy to work on. Since the 318 also fits in this engine
bay, having a V6 adds alot more working room. I can swap out my old spark
plugs and put in new ones in under 10 minutes. The distributor cap is also
easy to get to and replaced if needed. Oil changes......well those take a
whole 20 minutes, max. Odd on your tannsmission, as I have 108,500 miles on
my stock tranny and it runs great. I make sure to have it serviced(change the
fluid, filter, clean the pan, etc) every 30,000 miles, this is a major cause
of auto tranny failure and by having it serviced it really a parts of normal
maintenance. The roughness at idle could mean you just need a good tune
up(plugs, wires, cap, rotor), you might also want to pull out the
AIS(automatic Idle Sensor) motor, which is on the backside of the throttle
body and clean it, since mine gets carbon buildup alot on it. Try pulling the
codes from the computer and see if you get any fault codes. There are some
instructions on the DML home page, or just go to this address:

Good Luck!
