DANGER! DANGER! Usually, pinging is caused by advanced timing. Unless the
timing is *way* off, I think you've been mis-diagnosed. Your truck should
still be under warantee, have the dealer solve the pinging before you do any
mods. The performance PCM advances the timing which will make the pinging
worse. The truck should not ping on 87 octane. What transmission does it
have?
