Tire Recommendations?

Hello Folks,

        I've got a 98 2WD CC V8 SLT+. My driving is 60% in city, 30 %
highway and the rest dirt and gravel road type driving. I don't do any
towing, but occasionally haul fairly heavy loads short distances.

The Goodyear Eagles (P235/70/R15) that came with the truck
have been terrible! They never have seemed to have any traction and
are to the wear bars in less than 20k miles. To top it off, last night
a piece of gravel about 2 inches long punctured the tire! (It was
amazing to see a 1 by 1 3/4 inch piece of rock embedded in the tire).

The only recommendations I've gotten are Michelin XW4 (another
passenger car tire) and BF Goodrich LTX (a light truck tire I think).
My main questions are these:

1. Would there be any advantages or disadvantages to going to a
P235/75?R15? There seem to be a lot more light truck tires available
in the 75 size.

2. With the mix of driving that I do should I just stick to a
passenger car type tire? (BTW I live in an area with very little snow,
although I do travel to snowy areas several times each winter.)

Any recommendations or advice would be appreciated.

                                Regards,

                                George

PS For those of you who have read this far, here's the bargain of the
day. I have a set of the Mopar molded mud flaps that fit the new body
style Dakota. They are in fairly good shape (7 out of 10). I will give
(you pay shipping) them to the person who emails me the most
convincing reason that they want them for themselves (not to sell!).
E-mail me, not the list! geo@ipass.net
