All Dakotas, whether 4x2 or 4x4, already have independent front suspension.
They have had this for several years now.

 If so, it'll take a good amount of weight off the truck. Personally i think
the current live axle set up is more durable and works well. Just look at
Jeep Grand Cherokees,
They still use live axles in the front.
