To all who are using air bags on your trucks to increase your payload,
Please be very careful when exceeding your trucks load rating. Air bags
alone will NOT increase your trucks load capacity. Max load is determined
not just by what the spring can handle, but also by your wheels, tires, and
the frame itself. As far as the load limitations with the R/T. Check out why
DC has decreased the load rating. It's not because of the springs, but
because of the angle the spring meets the spring perch. That angle and the
load the spring transfers to the perch has shown to cause failure of the
spring perch hardware. Air bags alone will NOT increase your load rating on
an R/T or any other vehicle. They will only keep the truck from sagging in
the rear end when loaded. If you don't believe me, and I know some of you
won't, then call a DC suspension engineer.

They increase youy payload dramatically when infated, but when you don't
need em' you can deflate them and not even know they are there. They allow
certain vehicles with only a 2000 pound payload to tow or haul whatever the
bags are rated at (ahem!).
