RE: RT exhaust

I recall a recent article in one of the magazine on the killer bee Dakota
r/t from performance west. They switched the stock R/T exhaust with an
aftermarket one and noticed NO increase in hp/torque. So why waste the
money?

Subject: DML: RT exhuast

Anyone have any thoughts on the stock RT exhaust? Would I be better
mpg/hp wise cutting out the stock muffler and putting in a
flowmaster/borla/gibson? The stock sound has a nice little growl but it
could definately use a deeper rumble.

I don't need, or want my RT to be real loud like my V6 was before I found
the right muffler for it. After several tries for a good sound I ended up
with a flowmaster 70 series which was perfect for the 6 banger.

I'd like to keep the sound at about the stock level inside the cab, but I
also want more power, a deeper rumble, and a little increase in the MPG.
My 16mpg/hwy doesn't cut it when I have to buy $20 of gas every other day.
Anyone have any first hand experience on getting the "right sound" and
performance for the 5.9? (you know, the deep rumble at idle, but quiet in
the cab when you're driving like a normal person.

Also, I'm seriously thinking headders at this point, either JBA or maybe
Mopar Performance.. Anyone running either set that could care to share the
gains with the list?
