1. Replace the stock head unit with an aftermarket one! My volume is a
little funny too but nothing I noticed.

2. I had to have my ball joints replaced because of a popping coming from
the steering wheel whenever I turned and such.

Hello, my name is Gus and I just subscribed. I have a 98 Dakota. For the
most part I have not had any problems with my truck. However there are two
problems that perhaps someone may be able to help me with.

My stereo volume control does not work well at all. Sometimes the volume
actually gets quieter as I am trying to make it louder. This happens no
matter how fast or slow I turn the dial. The dealer said they would install
a new one if the problem persists however, the guy I talked to said his
truck has the same problem. If all the stereo's have this problem
eventually it doesn't seem to make sense to have it replaced. The stereo is
the type with the CD player in the dash. Any suggestions? Is this problem
common or was the guy pulling my leg?

Also my steering wheel seems to pop when I park the Truck. Also when I hit
the brakes hard I can feel the steering wheel "move" slightly. I took that
one to the dealer as well. They said the grease fittings where dry. I try
to make sure the truck is lubed every other oil change. It may have been 7k
maybe 10K miles since I had the Truck lubed. I still feel the popping even
though the truck has been lubed. Is this a common problem. And can it be
fixed? Was it poor maintenance on my part?

Thanks
