The only reason I did not buy the Viper (smart ass) is the BIG HOMOSEXUAL LOOKING GAS CAP! As for the rest of you, I busted my ass, went to school got a great job and fell into some big money. I was relativly poor all my life and now (I do not give a shit how anyone else thinks I look) I am going to live like everyone should be able to! I test drove MY new Ferrari F50 last night! Again I do not care to look cool, I just care to drive MEAN MACHINES. I liked the Viper other than the gas cap. But the Vette did more for me. AND I TELL YOU NOW - I AM NOT A OLD MAN NOR A STUCK UP PRICK - I am under 30 and having fun driving cars that I always just dreamed of driving. I am done with this string. Sorry if I pissed anyone off - but, that is how I feel

Now lets get back to the DAK -- I need a good set of Nerf bars and a good brush guard -- any suggestions?

The Viper is not over priced. It is simply targeted at a different
audience and demographic.

Their target is 46-51 year olds with an annual household income of
185,000 to 195,000. The average Viper owner is 48 yrs old and has
an annual household income of $190,950. [1]

For contrast, the target for the Dakota is 30-48 yr olds with an
annual household income of 38k to 55k. Average buyer is 40-48 yr
old with an annual household income of 45 to 58k. [1]

Car manufacturers are not well know for being reasonable whereas the
consumer is well known for having his or her ego decide on a new car.

Rich people need their toys to show their status. It doesn't matter
if it is reliable, fast or comfortable. It simply has to be expensive
and out of your price range. :)

Besides, the Viper is not really even a money maker for Dodge. It is
a ploy to attract potential new customers by having an expensive and
exotic car. Populate the world with affordable Vipers and you've lost
your niche to attract new crowds. Ditto with the Prowler.

As for the Vette vs Viper discussion. I don't mind its price tag as
it helps out weed a lot of poseurs which are rather rampant in the
world of the Corvette.

In short, it isn't over priced... just priced out of your range. :)
