So true.
I found this out the hard way, myself.
I bought the 4071's(about 30.00 worth) and installed them in my 5.9
The power curve went flat, and the idle was a little rougher.
So I pulled them and reinstalled the original plugs (cleaned & gapped)
and it ran fine again.
The projected tip plug actually displaces a fraction of a cc of room in
the cylinder, so if you use a shorter tip, you reduce your compression
ratio a little bit. The spark also isn't in an ideal location in the
cylinder, to light off the charge efficiently.
No matter what brand you use, stick with the factory replacement size.
