True, pyrometers are overkill for everyday checking of air pressure.
However, if you are into circle-track, rally, CART, INDY, or any kind of
racing like that, the pyrometer is one of the most essential tools used to
correctly set up a chassis. It tells much more than correct tire pressure,
it tells you how the car is balanced, which end (or corner) of the car is
working the tires hardest, if your tires are too soft or too hard for track
conditions, alignment, etc. This little gizmo can tell a good chassis man
more about the car than anything else.....
