Just an FYI, my 1982 280ZX weighed in at about 3300 lbs
granted it was a turbo and fully loaded with goodies
those cars weigh a fair bit more than 2500lbs.
Could you just hook a tow strap to it and pull,
having another person steer the car?

Subject: DML: I need to tow a car.
I need to tow a Nissan 280ZX about 30 miles and was thinking of using
one of those tow dolly's that you can get at U-Haul. I have a '95 Dak
Extended Cab V6 5speed and will have to tow from the bumper. First of
all, will they rent it to me? I know the truck will pull the car with no
problems, but with Dakota's only being rated at 2000lbs from the bumper,
I don't know if they'll let me have it.
Second, would it be safe to do so? The car can't weigh more than
2500lbs.. Atleast I don't think so... So I should be okay, right?
Anything else to add? I build energized fences in my spare time and
worked on a farm for 2 years, so I've pulled a million trailers, all
different sizes, shapes and weights, but never with my Dakota. Always
with a '93 RAM LE 3500 Cummins Turbo Diesel.
