Stock Fan Removal Made easy

I have to tell you guys. I had a few problems before
removing the Daks stock fan to install the ASP underdrive
crank pulley. I had bro-in-law get out his visegrips with
the chain to wrap around the fan pulley to get it to stop
turning, to break the fan free. Talk about scratching the
pulley!

Well, I thought I was going to have to do the same technique
again with the fan install when I got this crazy idea. I took
a nylon strap and tied it around the crossmember below the fan.
I used some electrical tape to tape the other end of the nylon
strap to the fan pulley and wound up the excess strap counter
clockwise. I took a large crescent wrench and pipe, tightend
up the strap and with a couple of taps with a hammer, POW! The
fan popped loose...and NO more scratches!. This was a cheap 1"
red nylon strap I found at wallymart. All to easy!
