Travis,
What year Dak do you have? If it's pre-97, you should go with dropped
spindles and 1" coils to get a 3" front drop. If it's 97-up, your only
choices are coils or lowered A arms, but understand that the A arms relocate
the spring bucket 2" down, and you'll lose 2" of ground clearance( can you
say "scrape"?) Out back the shackles will work, but chiseling the 8 rivets on
each side is a ROYAL pain in the butt!! Why do you want a 3/5 drop, anyway?
>From my experience, the truck will ride like shit, and especially with
Doestch Tech shocks. I had a 97 with a 2/3 drop & Doestch Techs, and they are
the STIFFEST shock around! You can run over a dime and feel the bump! If
you're looking for comfort, you won't get it with such a radical drop.
Lookin'good and feelin' good are definetly two different animals. That's why
I did a 1.5" front & 2" rear drop on my 99, using 1" coils( which drop 1.5
with a V8CC) and 2" Ground Force blocks( they're cast iron, won't crack like
my old Belltech aluminum ones did), and I didn't have to change shocks at
all, just cut 1" off the lower A arm bump stops. The truck didn't even need
an alignment, and now has the same stance as an R/T, which it's been mistaken
for several times! This is, of course, just my opinion. Hope this helps.
