Wow! And I bought the V6/5-spd. because I wanted better mileage!! The best
I've ever had (450 miles from Chicago to St. Louis) when the Dak was new,
was 24 MPG, and that was by myself, several suit-cases AND a cab-high camper
shell.
The cruise was set at 70-75 the whole way, and there was no dead weight in
the bed. Before the shell was on (tailgate up), I was lucky to see 21 MPG.
And I believe I've got the 3.21 rear end. (Although I do remember a family
vacation in my folks '83 Crown Vic wagon w/ the 302 V8, with 4 people, fully
loaded, cargo carrier on the roof rack, going through Arkansas in the rain
with A/C on, and we got 21 MPG.)
Off the subject, anybody have any pros/cons about using synthetic oils
versus regular oils? I've been thinking about switching to synthetic for our
new Intrepid.

I agree with Sam:
My old 97 (I got a 99 now) had a 5.2L,(3:55 Diff) no mods, and I
managed to pull 23.4mpg, going around 50mph for 300 miles.
Oh, less I forget, I had the tailgate down.
25 is stretching, recommend you redo the math. :)

Hey, downhill, being towed doesn't count.
:P
I was able to manage 20.5 mpg driving a constant 70
mph in my '95, and got a crazy 23.6 mpg driving 45-55
mph over 300 miles (following inlaw who was towing a
5th wheel).
Now, if you could get 19 mpg out of my RT, I would get
you booked on "The Worlds Most Impossible Stunts"
