Sam's a/c question

Sam-
many a/c systems have a low-pressure cut-off switch mounted in one of
the metal lines or screwed into the accumulator/receiver-drier. If the
system is low on refrigerant, it will not allow the relay to send a
voltage signal to the compressor. The only way to check this other than
using a manifold gauge set is to pull the connector off the switch and
jump the terminals of the connector. Turn the a/c system on and see if
you now have voltage at the compressor, or if the compressor kicks on.
P/S, if you use a paper clip to jump the wire, be careful removing
it. It will normally get VERY hot from the amperage you just ran
through it!
