If you did it that way, the only speed that would read correctly
would be 0 mph. :-) If you wanted a 150mph speedo, you'd probably
have to replace the entire speedometer. (It *might* be possible to
get a different face, then figure some way of getting different
gears for the needle and odometer, but it'd probably be less hassle
to just replace it straight away.)
