You can probably go out and spend $500 on a nitrous system, but the
costs go up as you add additional "safety and reliability" items.
Recently, I was pricing out a nitrous system for my Dak, and it came
very close to $2,000. About $500-600 of that was for a Holley Pro
Strip Annihilator ignition w/coil. I forget now all the things I decided
I needed, but there were a bunch (mostly safety cutoffs and such.) That
price was for 2 15lb bottles, which increased it a bit; if you stick with
the standard 10lb NX bottle, you can probably save a few hundred clams.
I was going for a street/strip setup, so I had stuff in there like bottle
openers, etc. My requirement was that, at any stop light, I could switch
from completely NA (bottles shut, etc) to on the juice in a few seconds,
without leaving the cab. If you're just looking for a strip only setup,
you can save a lot of money and reduce the complexity too. $1000 is
probably a pretty good estimate to install a system on a stock Dak...
