Hey John McKinney,
I'm planning on taking a similar trip next summer, end of June and all of
July. I'll be driving from St. Louis to Alaska. I've been collecting
info for the trip for a few months now. If you want to exchange info my
e-mail address is t_abernathy7@juno.com. I'm looking into taking a short
barreled shotgun for bear and mosquito repellant, I hear they get big up
there.

For the DMLers in Alaska,
or those that have been there I have a DeLorme, Alaska Atlas and
Gazetteer. The only road it shows from Livengood (just North of
Fairbanks) to Prudhoe Bay is the Dalton Highway / 11. Are there no other
roads off of the Dalton Highway that just run off into the wilderness for
exploring ? No old oil company roads or logging roads ? I was hoping to
do some remote camping off the "main drag" that I could drive to. Any
info would be appreciated. My address is above if you would like to send
your response direct. Thanks.
Todd
