You dont have to blow the AC charge, just tie up the commpressor and move
the condenser out of the way. I have done this twice.

I'm not an expert here, but you won't need any special tools, i've had the
manifold off and didn't need any other than a pretty hefty sized torx bit
for the fuel rails. The only thing that kept me out of the cam was the A/C
core, unless I'm wrong, you'll have to remove it, which means loosing all
the refrigerant? You'll need a puller to get the harmonic balancer off as
well..

i hope my timing chain goes south soon =)
