TOO cold????

My tranny was making the same noise yesterday when I started it up. 25
below here in Potsdam, NY yesterday. After I shifted it into gear it
started to sound normal although it was a little sluggish. It didn't bother
me that much since it was so Damm cold out. Although I do have a problem
with my truck at the moment, the blower for the heat does not work, as well
as the wipers. I checked the fuse for both of these things and its fine.
Does anyone have any ideas on what it might be? It sucks when its 20 below
and you have no heat!!!!
