Studs (on the head) will hold up to the pressures high compression engines,
nitrous, blowers, turbos, and/or a combination of. Also makes changing head
gaskets much easier in the event that you blow one with the high boost
pressures, etc.

With the exhaust manifold stud, it's a common occurrence for them to snap.
They are under constant, extreme heat, rust and corrosion can build up
easily since there's no protection for them, and they are much smaller in
diameter than a head-bolt/stud.

I've heard people mention using studs before....what's the advantage of
studs
over regular bolts?? I've had one encounter with studs on the exhaust
manifolds, and it wasn't pretty!!
