Normally, they're installed on the driver-side from the frame to the engine
block. You can use Grade-8 bolts on both sides with a strong steel strap
and a turn-buckle. The tighter you turn the turn-buckle, the tighter the
strap is.
Basically what they do is to prevent the engine from (literally) twisting in
the engine compartment and therefore transferring more of the torque to the
drivetrain. Also helps in preventing busted motor mounts (if they're
rubber).
