I take exception with the "Circle" issue. I live in South Jersey now and
have lived in Central Jersey also; a total of 14 years and I SWEAR the vast
majority of Jerseyites don't know who has the right of way at a traffic
circle. It kind of works like a combination of physics and the game
"chicken". The person who has the most momentum and is in the "flow" of
traffic or has the largest heaviest vehicle gets the right of way regardless
of whether they are inside or entering the circle. I have seen it countless
times. In actuality in should be those IN the circle having the right of
way (unless there are regulating devices indicating the contrary). I
learned THAT in my New York State drivers manual when I was 16!
Near where I work in Bellmawr, NJ there is a place where there are 2 linked
traffic circles for routes 130 and 47 (and other smaller roads) and it
magnifies the traffic circle experience to the point that some people I know
will do anything they can to avoid that area.
