I think that the MPI intake would be better than re-working the beer
barrel intake, but unfortunately with the 6, you don't have that option.
Working the intake definitely will result in some gains, if done right.
I'll admit I don't know a whole lot about the 6, but its more or
less the 8 with a couple of cylinders missing, so the concepts should
carry over. I don't see any reason why you couldn't use the older
intake on your '99. Actually, the intake would be a '92-95, if its
an older one. If its a '96, it'd be exactly the same as the one on
your truck. (EGR was eliminated in '96)
It should work...
