Think about it guys... the 4.7 is the first engine in mopar's new line of
truck engines... it will be followed by a 5.7 to replace the 5.9, most
likely a 6.1 to offer more choices on the Ram and also a new V-10 hemi for
the next ram and viper...
Right now the 4.7 is being called a "Magnum" engine, but all of these other
engines (when they debut in the next Ram) will definitely be called "Hemi."
So, at that time surely they will start calling the 4.7 a Hemi. If the 4.7L
can be called a Powertech when it's in a jeep and a Magnum when it's in a
dodge, i doubt it will be a big deal if it magically is a Hemi as soon as
the rest of the Hemi's are available.

Hemispherical means circular, the 4.7L cylinder head combustion chambers are
not completely circular or Hemi shaped but they are very close! And, the
valves are across from each other instead of beside each other like in the
318/360. Furthermore, the sparkplugs go in from the top of the head instead
of the bottom side. These are all characteristics of the original Chrysler
Hemi engines of the 50', 60's, and 70's. This is as close to a true Hemi
engine as you can get, without being one!

The 4.7 is a semi-hemi head engine. the heads have a hemispherical
combustion chamber with one side being flat. this is why they are only a
semi-hemi and not a true hemi. the 318 has a conventional combustion
chamber. Does this make sense to you? I'm sure someone can better explain
if not...
