Front Mounted Hitch

With all this talk and such about front tow hook and worrying about frame
damage etc, I am shocked that no one has brought this up. I have seen a
front mounted Class III hitch(made by Hidden Hitch) for 1997 and newer
Dakotas. I have seen them advertised in every catalog for over a year now in
JC Whitney catalogs, but for some reason, I cannot seem to find them in
their new catalog. I want to say they were around $95; a cheap price I would
say for a solid reinforced front end tow hook setup. If I owned a GenIII
Dak, I would definately buy one; especially for mounting a winch upfront!
Once the weather warms up around here, I will start bracing the front frame
rail and installing my custom front tow hooks using either 1995 Chevy 2500
4x4 tow hooks or 1985 Chevy Blazer tow hooks. I only wish someone made a
bolt on front hitch like Hidden Hitch makes. By the way, I have had my
Hidden Hitch on my Dak since I bought it in 1994. I have put this hitch
through hell(as well as my Dak too!) pulling out bushes, small trees, many
many vehicles out of ditches and mud holes, as well as towing a 3500 pound
boat countless times; so the Hidden Hitch name is very good. I did 'upgrade'
and use all Grade8 hardware instead of the Grade5 the hitch came with. Maybe
someone should try calling JC Whitney and see if they still offer or make
this front mounted hitch, it might be the way to go.
