If you look at the instrument cluster in the right light, so you can see the
outlines of all the idiot lights, just below the speedometer, you'll see an
arrow like cutout pointing up. That's where the shift light would
illuminate.
I have a hard time believing that all these trucks have fried boards,
especially since the manual specifically states that not all vehicles use
this light.

the dealer told me that the 00 4.7 are suposed to have the shift light and
mine was burned out before I got it the curcuit board was also burned upo
and
it was what caused the idle problem because the computer was not getting the
proper responce from the RPM guage. Part has been on back order for a month
must have a lot of them that were bad
