Eric,

I had to have mine replaced at about 20k miles.
Careful if you have them replaced. I don't know why, but
my 97 Club Cab 4X4 is about 2" lower in the front than it was
before. I took it back and they said there was nothing wrong
after replacing them. Since my wife works at Pep Boys, I had her
cross reference all the parts on the work order and they were
correct.

Subject: DML: Ball Joints

Has anyone had ball joint problems. I have a 99 club
cab with 31's, 18,000 mi. Took it to get inspected
the other day, garage said they wouln't inspect
because ball joints are bad. Ran over to dodge
garage. They check it and said that they are fine and
the specs. for the joints are .020 and .023. They
also said that dodge b.j.'s come .020 from the factory
and they will only be replaced if they are .060 or
over. Is this a bunch of B.S. or is this true? I
have an appointment to have it inspected at a
different dodge garage next week and see what they
say.

If this garage says they are bad, I plan on taking it
to the dodge garage that said they were good, get them
to inspect it, and then drive to my nearest state
police barracks and have them take a look at it. I
made sure I kept the paperwork.
