My 97 Dakota CC had bad ball joints at 28,000 miles. The first garage I
took it to get inspected did not even sell Ball joints and they said they
were bad. Dealer said it was just a fluke that they went bad but I know 7
trucks that have had the same problem before 50,000 miles. If this truck
keeps pace with my last one the U joints should be bad at about 65,000
miles. Even with all the problems I have had in my last two trucks, I still
love dodge.

Eric, FSM says to replace the parts when travel exceeds 1.52mm, (0.060 in.).
Sounds like the inspection station was trying to stiff you.
