Re: QuickD Intake kit?

The filter is much more efficient than the plain paper filter (flows
more air and catches more dirt) and the whole kit gives you more air,
makes it much easier to pull air into the engine, and results in cleaner
airflow. I put one on my '99 318 and I've got a little more power and
better mileage. I definitely think it was worth the money ($140
shipped). Tony does terrific work and is an all-around good guy.

Same for the throttle body (read Tony's description on his website for
what he does to it). I think it was Jon Smith who said it very nicely,
very succintly - "More air in/more air out, more power" (or something
like that). Air (Oxygen) is part of your fuel. More fuel means more
power. And the easier you make it for the engine to GET that air
(intake kit, TB, ram-air, supercharger, etc.), the less power it has to
waste sucking air in. With the intake and TB, that power will instead
end up in your rear axle, which is a good place for it.

Real cheap mod? 180-degree thermostat. And don't forget the DML
sticker, it's good for at least 5 HP (which reminds me, I gotta get that
and a calendar).
