r/t wheels on a '96

We'll after a few weeks of work, plus a close call on replacing the
truck with an r/t, I have finally finished the project on getting r/t
wheels mounted on my truck. When Jon has the time, i know he's busy, you
will be able to see what my '96 looks like with the r/t wheels. I had to
use a 1/4" spacer in the front that was design for a four lug car since
they don't make a 6-lug on our bolt pattern. Figures. I don't really
like the spacer and a fellow member of the list is having a set than I
designed using a cad program based on measurements I took from the rear
of the wheel. These are being laser cut out of 1/4" plat steel and will
be zinc or powder coated depending how things work out. In order to use
this on the front, and still grab the same amount of thread as I could
without spacers I had to order special lugnuts that thankfully just came
out on the market. This way I get a good bite and the wheels are very
solid. The final part was new shoes. The ones that were thier were bald
but they hepled out for testing fitment. I choose a very new tire on the
market by michelin....Pilot LTX. The reason I went for them is they have
the best treadware rating out of all the tires I could find in the
255/55/17 size range....400. This is compared to the next best of 300
and others not listing any. They were somewhat expensive compared to the
other brands but not near as bad as the BFG Scorcher T/A. The next
project is new shocks front and rear since somehow the ones I just put
on did not last and a set of lowering blocks for the rear from summit
since thiers supposiedly corrects for the pinion angle. I will be using
shackles in the future since I think they are better but the blocks are
simplier for testing out different hieghts for the rear. Sorry for such
a long post.
