I was wondering what that single plane m1 does on the lower end, where does
the power band come in with a suitable matching cam. When I went to a comp
cam, I found that the comp cams (in the Jeep series) had 4 degrees of
advance ground into them I was wondering if that is the case now with the
Mopar comp cams offering, and whether it should be considered with the
 single plane manifold.
Yup, that not being said anywhere in the manual, when I degreed 4 degrees of
advance, that gave me 8 total and I cooked off a set of exhaust valves and
headers during the cam break-in, it sure was pretty though.. Cherry red
primaries, and pink exhaust cones out of each exhaust pipe...

I assume your talking about the "RT" cams for the magnum engines. I don't
think the match up would be an ideal one. The Rt cams are small. Just when
those cams start to slow down the M1 really takes off. I like to see as much
duration as you or your computer can tolerate. I run 220/225 @50. I had this
small cam problems when I ran the m1 with my 318 with stock comp. It did make
more top end Hp and my Ets did improve. My 60 ft,however, suffered. I did
add 4 degrees of advance. This only partially helped. If you call Mopar perf.
they'll tell you the M1 is a race only piece-LOL makes me wonder who hires
these guys. He!!, I've got a friend who tows with it! It's an intake you can
grow into. On a 318 with a low comp,it's only so-so, but add a 360 or compr.
or a cam and watch out! I've outrun Ls1s from a role on the freeway; so
it was a straight HP race. I'm only running a 2800 stall. It's value is based
on your combo. So if your going to stay relatively stock, my anecdotal
evidence says that you will lose some low end. However, If you add N2O than
all bets are off, even with the stock 318.
