I'm still having a little trouble visualizing the $5000 600HP 360 with a
Viper 6 sp in a Dak. So let me do a drag racers take on a decent little
street Dak...
I'm figuring might as well go with the Club Cab. The seats can recline a
little more and my golf clubs can stay inside.
I'm going to start with a 505ci B motor. That's a low deck Mopar Big
Block. I'll use a low compression dime a dozen 400 and stroke it. I'll
use short quench dome forged pistons from Venolia or Ross. Indy Aluminum
cylinder heads and an Indy single four barrel intake. I'll use a single
race prepared dominator carb, but you could go the fuelie route too.
Compression is kept to 10 to 1. Which will allow the use of pump gas with
the Aluminum heads.
~.670" lift 315 advertised duration Roller Cam. A remarkably streetable
cam by the way in a 500 incher....
One of those full on mega mondo nitrous systems.... I don't know anything
about these because NHRA class racers would never go near the stuff...
The tranny would be a ProTrans special. Heavily modified and lightweight
A999 internals using an A518 case. A direct bolt in. Full manual reverse
valve body with trans brake. 4200 stall torque converter.
A blueprinted and narrowed 8 3/4 rear axle (saves weight over the Dana 60),
with spool and 5.13 gears. Tubbed wheelwells and 32x15-15 Mickey Thompson
Sportsman Pros. Four link suspension.
Full Cage. A few fiberglass parts. Maybe leave off the spare...
I'm leaving lots out but the engine can make 700hp before the Nitrous.
It's anybodys guess after the juice.
But I think we can see the 8's here with our little A/EAT (A/Econo Altered
Truck). Yeah sure we can go tube frame and all fiberglass body get the
weight down to 2,300lbs and go hunting Pro Stock Trucks, but I like my
3500lb Pro Street version with the 505 Bottle Baby...
