Starter Problems

I just put the new starter in. The first one I've ever done, took
me about 2.5 hours. I was cussing those DC engineers a few times. I
mean, do they really need to make that motor mount bracket so damn
big? Anyway, the cables connect to the top of the starter so I had to
lay underneath the truck and disconnect these by touch -- couldn't see
a thing. I didnt' think I would be able to do it but I kept trying
and was finally able to make it (as a side effect I can now read
brail) I got the starter all disconnected and un-bolted and then it
took 5 minutes of head scratching to figure out how to get it down out
of the prison of frame rails, cross members, oil pans, and y pipes.
Once I finally got it down I wasn't too optimistic on being able to
get the new one into the prison. But amaizingly enough the new one
went right in on my first try!

The only thing I'm slightly worried about is that I broke off a small
bracket that braces two transmission lines that run right above the
starter. The small bracket is -was- held in place with the top
starter bolt. But the lines don't seem like they are going anywhere,
they are pretty secure by themselves. I guess I'll just keep an eye
on them for a while??

Thanks to everyone who emailed me with tips and suggestions on my
starter problems. I hope this has fixed it.
