If the 4.0L Sixer is an easy swap, DO IT. It's based on the old "Workhorse"
232cid engine from AMC which is what's in my '69 Javelin as well. This
engine has a sh-tload of torque in stock form and getting the HP out of it
is just as easy. (Not to forget that the engine is pretty much bullet proof
in stock form.)

My wife has a '94 Jeep GC with the 4.0 and (when it was in stock form) it
could easily beat the V6's. It now has a modified TB (from Turbo City), K&N
Drop-In, SplitFire Plugs and Wires, MSD6, mild shift-kit (running 100%
Type-F fluid) and a MagnaFlow Muffler with 2.5" pipe from the cat-back. It
gets close to 20mpg on the average and (when throttle is floored) it's kept
up with several V8 GC's in the area. (And I only spent $500 on it!)
Needless to say, the wife has attempted to blow me off the road a few
times...with only one successful try...but it's not that easy as compared to
stock form.

$0.02
