here in Az they run the sniffer tests on freeway ramps. they will not tow
your vehicle, but send you a letter telling you to go in for a full test.
also the test here they run the car on the dyno, and simulate idle, and
highway speeds. (its stressful to watch them do it to my 5 speed) but here
they usually donot perform any visual inspection under the hood.
