Dave, I got the rubber from a rubber supplier they make gaskets and almost
anything out of rubber. I bought 1/8" thick x
4' x 4', they cut it off a roll. The place I got it from would cut any size
I wanted all I did was cut it with tin snipes to completely fill the gap I
fastened it with black drywall screws like they use for fastening the metal
studs to the top and bottom plates on commercial jobs. These screws don't
rust and have a built in washer style head to prevent the rubber from
tearing through them. I drilled the hole in the rubber where the screw went
and just screwed it into the existing plastic, I've had no problem with them
coming out. There easy to remove to get at the oil filter, but I got tired
of oil pouring all over the frame and everything else so I have relocated my
filter with a kit to under the passenger side door mounted to the frame,
this makes changing the oil a pleasure. If you have any more questions just
shoot me a e-mail at rhonda@blazeinet.com
