I think I got it except where you say "you use a second timer to break the
constant hot when the door opens.". Do you really need a second timer or
just a second relay? I wouldnt think there would need to be another timer
for any reason. Other than that I think I pretty much got it. Now if my
truck would just get here we will see how it turns out.

nope. you've got it perfectly. the way to do what you want to do will take
more than one conventional relay. to do the ten minutes you need a time
delay relay(off delay). when the key is turned off the timer will begin to
count down for ten minutes then change the state of it's contacts. you
drive
a second relay from the interior lights that come on with the door. you
wire
the normally closed contacts of this relay in series with the constant hot
you need for a time delay(off delay) relay and its done.
to recap the time delay off delay relay needs a constant hot for the timer
and a loss of power for the signal to start the timer. you use a second
timer to break the constant hot when the door opens. the timer loses it's
count and will not restart till it senses the key being turned off again.
