Viscosity is the same, yes, but fluidity is different. A synthetic with
the same weight (viscosity) as dino will appear thinner than the dino no
matter what the temperature. Yes synthetic will clean the crud out of the
engine, but will also flow into smaller areas than dino of the same weight
can. It's the molecular difference that makes the difference.
