I am well acquainted with the adrenaline rush that you've described. And i
used to speed a lot, way over the limit, and way above the safety limit. I
used to own a motorcycle, and anyone that has ridden a bike knows what REAL
speed feels like. And the connection that you feel with the road and bike
can't even be compared with a car, well maybe a full-on race-ready car.
Definitely not with a pickup. :)
It is not fear at all that keeps me from doing 100+ unless of course i'm on
a track. When you're on a track, there's no one else to hurt or kill.
I think i've grown up a bit and realize that it's not worth a shot of
adrenaline if i'm risking other's lives in the process. And after getting
crunched by a drunk driver that appeared to have seen me and stopped at MY
green light, i don't trust anyone else on the road, no one is 100%
predictable. And if i had been going much faster that night, i'd be in the
ground or worse, paralysed from the neck down. But at least i'm still
around and kickin, maybe not as i used to, but still kicking none-the-less.
(And there's this guy that's gonna get a good kickin from me when we meet in
court!)
I'm not trying to blast anyone for speeding, or doin silly driving
sometimes, everyone does it now and then, myself included. But you all also
know the consequences, we all see the headlines in the news. Next time
you're speeding ask what's the rush? Work can wait for you to be a whole 2
minutes late. That's what i tell myself when the needle creeps to the
right, it's just not worth it.
But that's just my opinion, i could be wrong,
