The artice I quoted put a 360 crank into a 340 block which yielded 378
cid.
Quoted from the article:
Engine RPM Torque HP
2500 398 189
3000 417 238
3500 436 291
4000 455 346
4500 465 399
5000 463 441
5500 448 469
6000 413 471
Granted this motor is modified more than the average Joe wants, but the
longer stroke of the 360 crank and the bigger bore of the 340 combine
for some good torque numbers...remind me of a big block. Using the 360
crank in a 318 is counter productive due to the smaller bore of the 318
and messes up the bore to stroke ratio. Also, the main journals on the
360 crank
have to be machine to the 340 specs.
If anyone wants a copy of the article (March 2000 issue of Mopar
Muscle), I'll scan it up and make it available.
