Flip,
I did my headers myself. Very easy, All the bolts came out no studs
broke in the block. Basically, take all the outter nuts off the heatshields
(easy) then. take the nuts off the studs for the manifolds. You might want
to unhook the y-pipe.
If I remember right, should be a 14mm socket (you don't have to get a wrench
to hold the top part of nut, because it has a clip that will stop it from
rotating)
anyways. after the nuts that hold the manifolds are off, the manifolds
should just slide off.
Here's the tricky part. Get some vice-grips and clamp down on the studs and
rotate them out of the block. Mine were extremely easy to get out...
so, put the new ones in, hook up your y-pipe and you're done. I swear it's
VERY easy. Don't pay a shop almost 320 bucks to install them. what a rip
off. You can pay me 200 for it. hehe

<< I took the Dak into an exhaust shop yesterday to get that loose head
pipe welded ($20, I figured what the hell. I won't have to mess with
it anymore) So I decided to get another quote on installing the
headers for me. This guy wanted $150 PER SIDE! (as compared to $160
per side they wanted at the other place. Somehow, that $20 saving
doesn't make it better) He was surprised I had headers for the 6er,
because he didn't think they made them. But he gave me this whole
song and dance about how it would tie up one of his racks for hours,
and they would have to take everything out, down to the heads. They
seemed to think the heads must be aluminum. I didn't think they
were? But anyway, his idea was that if I did it myself I might damage
the heads. And he said the gaskets that come with the JBA are no
good. >>
