Unless I'm mistaken, it's the belt pulley that runs off the crankshaft.
People replace their pullies with different diameter ones to underdrive
the accessories, thus letting more of the power generated by the engine
exit the back (driveshaft) rather than the front (accessories - a/c,
alternator, etc.).
