Larry,
Your fuel sending unit is bad. This is part of the fuel pump assembly. You
can do one of two things with it. Either live with it, or replace/have
someone replace the fuel pump. The pump runs around $120 if I remember
correctly.

Subject: DML: question

I own a 93 Dakota with a V-8 motor. The problem I am having is that the
fuel gauge only works when the fuel cell is completly full, after 25 to
30 miles the gauge reads empty and the low fuel light does not come
on. Is this a common problem with this truck or just a fluke? I would
like to know where to start to get it fixed without ringing up a bill as
long as Texas. Any ideas would be a big help.
