Oil change

You will get responses that range all over the map. Opinions range from 3000
miles to 15000 and stuff. Claims that it must break in properly with dyno oil
or it never will break in. Well many high-end vehicles have been leaving the
factories with Mobil-1 in their crankcase for a number of years. The Viper and
ZR-1 'Vette to name just a couple. I've got 3800 on my 4.7 and am going to
Mobil-1 this weekend. I used dyno oil for the first couple oil changes because
I like to do a couple fairly rapid succession changes to get excess break-in
compounds out quickly and synthetic is relatively expensive for not getting a
usefull life out of it. I'll be changing over to synthetic this weekend with
3800 miles on it and it will be the 3rd oil change for the beast. So as for my
opinion, I see no reason not to go ahead and change over now. But... as
always.... your mileage may vary.....

Help!

I know this topic has been covered quite a bit, but I was never quite clear
on when to switch from conventional motor oil to synthetic. I am due for my
next oil change soon at around 4600 miles. Can I go to synthetic at this
point or should I wait another 3000? 6000?
