Stick a cork in the plug hole and when it pops, that's TDC. Works every
time.

Hmmm...I don't want to take the intake off. <grin> I understand how
to go to each cylinder in firing order succession after number 1,
there are indeed four marks on the balancer. What I want to be sure
of is that I start at number 1 top dead center firing. Once I'm
there, I'll be okay for the rest of the install. So, any help anyone
can give me in finding top dead center number 1 firing, I'd be very
grateful.
