Distributor adjustment question

I came across this post in the archives dated in Oct.'98
from a DMLer (Dodge mechanic) who has since left the list.

I have tried to find out more about the pros/cons about this
but without success.

Yesterday at the track, I scanned this setting and noticed
that it was a bit off (from knocking the distributor during
the MPI install) and reset it to specs.

Does anyone have any knowledge of what occurs when the injector
timing is turned up to, say, +5 degrees? Thanks.
