Move to a more sane state. Or, find a friend (or friend of a friend)
who can do a state inspection.
Seriously though, if you've put the time and money into it, some
research may be worthwhile. Head to the library or wherever, and check
up on the motor vehicle laws. Get true documentation that you're
following all laws. The DOT approval on the window will be tough;
you'll have to go to the manufacturer about that and find out what's
going on. Maybe they have a certificate they can fax you. If you're
still told at inspection that you're in the wrong, and you can prove
that you're right, call the DMV or whoever issues inspection licenses.
I'm sure they'd LOVE to hear about one of their licensees ignoring the
law.
As for the cross-threaded lug nut, better to find that out now than on
the side of the highway in a bad storm with a pregnant woman onboard and
going into labor :). I'd complain to Midas though.
