Todd,

Magnuson-Moss offers consumer protection over the intallation of after
market components on your vehicle. Basically what it says it that the
dealer cannot legally refuse warranty work simply because the components
are there. They must prove that the component in question caused the
failure for which you are seeking service. Dealers will sometimes try to
bluff you on this one(mine certainly is), but be firm.

UPDATE: In initial consultations with an attorney, since it appears I'll
have to go that route, he informs me that he is familiar with
Magnuson-Moss and he says he has a punitive clause within it!. He still
has to review the information I've supplied to support my case, but if
it shows that we have cause, there may be penalities involved for the
dealer's refusal to honor the law over and above what we would settle on
for repairs, refund of extended service contract fees, legal fees, etc.
I did not know that clause existed, but believe me, I was happy to hear.

Bob
