>>Does any one know of a disk brake conversion kit for a 8¼" rear end
with 5
on 4½" bolt pattern? I want to convert the rear brakes to disk on my 88
Dak. I have always had a problem with keeping the rear brakes in
adjustment. I have replaced all the hardware on several occations and it
till seems like the self adjusters don't do anything. I'm about to put
4
inches of suspension lift and larger tires on the truck and want to
upgrade
the brakes while I have it apart.<<
Hey Walt,
nobody makes a kit for premags (you mean Dakotas were built BEFORE
97'?!?!?!?!!), but with the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern you may have some
options. I've been flipping through some Mopar musclecar mags and I'm
seeing a few rear disc conversions here and there. Since the 8 1/4 was
around back then, the backing plates may be the same and these disk
conversions may just work...
the only thing is, there is that wack load-adjusting valve in trucks
without RWABS that really screws up sometimes, and may affect any disk
brake conversion attempts...
